Markus Ecklmayr (born 1985 in Haag am Hausruck, Austria) is a Saxophone Player from Linz, Austria. He is known for his performances with different bands, mainly as the saxophone player of the Parov Stelar Band. His saxophone play is part of numerous recordings, and he is sometimes known as "Max the Sax" [1]

Biography

Markus Ecklmayr was born on December 18, 1985 in the Austrian province of Upper Austria. Soon he discovered his love for music and started learning the saxophone with 11. Later, in 2004, he began his studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University for Music, Drama, and Dance in Linz. In 2005 he joined the Parov Stelar Band, the live band of the Austrian producer Parov Stelar. Since then his popularity began to rise. With his unique and energetic style he essentially influenced the style of the band. His saxophone play is part of several Parov Stelar recordings.

He soon also became heavy requested as a saxophone player for other projects and worked with numerous bands and musicians like Düsenfried & the Stuffgivers, Hot Pants Road Club, Hubert Tubbs, Leroy Emmanuel, Peter Panay & the Cosmic Hustlers, LMT Connection, Jon Sass, Dorretta Carter, Mary Broadcast Band, Soulpower, Upper Austrian Youth Jazz Orchestra, Sharp Eleven, Just Banks, Roland Schwarz and Cayetano.
