The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland is one of the centers of National Institutes of Health. The Clincial Center is a hospital devoted entirely to clinical research in the United States. It consists of the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center and the Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center. The two centers' buildings are connected to form one large building.[1]

The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center opened in 1953. The highest part has 13 floors. It is named after Senator Warren Magnuson of Washington.

The Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center opened in 2005. The 870,000-square-foot (81,000 m2) facility houses 234 inpatient beds, 82 day-hospital stations, and clinical research labs. It was named after Senator Mark O. Hatfield of Oregon. It provides an environment for both patient care and conducting clinical trials, most of which are in Phase I or Phase II.[2]
