Biography

Career

Prior to Roadshow, he was the host of game shows Temptation Island, Gonzo Games, Free 4 All, The Big Date, Russian Roulette (where he was introduced as Mark L. Walberg), and On the Cover, as well as a short lived, self-titled talk show (Mark Walberg) that aired for one season from 1995-1996.[1] In addition, he guest-hosted one episode of Friend or Foe? in an April Fools' Day stunt by GSN. In January 2008, he also hosted a game show on the Fox network, The Moment of Truth, in which contestants were asked a series of 21 increasingly personal and embarrassing questions for a large jackpot. He is currently the host of Antiques Roadshow on PBS and has been for six years.

Before hosting game shows, Walberg received a contract from Stone Stanley Entertainment in 1990, where his first television exposure was that of the announcer on Teen Win, Lose or Draw, before he was known to audiences as the announcer and sidekick to Pat Finn on the long-running TV series Shop 'til You Drop from 1991 to 1994, for Lifetime Television. He also hosted the short-lived Burnt Toast for ESPN. On January 17, 2009, he began appearing as host of Make Me a Millionaire, the California Lottery's new game show, the last episode of which aired in July 2010.[2][3]

Mark Walberg is on the board of directors of Goodwill of Southern California and the board of managers of the Hollywood/Wilshire YMCA. Mark plays on the World Poker Tour in the Hollywood Home Games for the Goodwill Industries of Southern California (a charity he also played for on the game show Street Smarts, in which he won the game with $2 to Mark DeCarlo's $1, but he still got $1,000 for the Goodwill Industries of Southern California; DeCarlo received $500 for the M.S. Society of America).

He was slated to host a game show adaptation of the popular board game Trivial Pursuit: America Plays beginning in fall 2008, but was unable to get out of his Fox contract and was replaced by Christopher Knight.

On July 23, 2010, Walberg began hosting a series on CMT titled Your Chance to Dance.

He recently made a cameo for West Coast Report for The 'Intervention' episode to help Jimmy Tatro come to terms with his 'Frattyness'. http://totalfratmove.com/602245
