Mark H. Durkan is a Social Democratic and Labour Party politician in Northern Ireland who was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2011.^[1]

He was elected to Derry City Council in 2005 and also sits on the Western Health & Social Care Board. ^[2] He is the nephew of former SDLP leader Mark Durkan.^[3]

Similar to former US President Harry S. Truman, Mark's middle initial "H" isn't short for anything but is, in fact, his middle name. Critics have pointed out how it adds a certain statesmanlike quality to his demeanour.
