Mark Anthony Parrish (born March 4, 1979) is an American actor, producer, and social and liberal political activist.

Biography

Parrish was born (March 4, 1979) in Framingham, Massachusetts, USA.[1] He is of Portuguese, French, Irish and Native American descent (Micmac). He attended Groton-Dunstable Regional High School and played varsity baseball, basketball, acted in plays, and studied Kenpo-Jujitsu. He played college baseball and acted in numerous plays while attending Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts. His first paid acting job was the lead in the play Gint by Romulus Linney performed at Stonehill College.[2] He left one semester shy of graduating to act in several film projects; however he eventually did receive his bachelor's degree in January 2008.[3] Currently attending Harvard University, American Repertory Theater/MXAT masters acting program class of 2012.

Career

His first film role came in 2002 with the baseball feature The Road Home.[4] Additionally, he played a rock climber in a low-budget independent film Jerome's Razor.[5] In 2003, he worked with Mark Burnett Productions for the reality TV show The Apprentice[6] with Donald Trump. Later that year, he worked on The Next Joe Millionaire and The Casino. Parrish played a stud for a scene opposite actress Rosanna Arquette in the film I-See-You.Com,[7] he also worked behind the camera as an associate producer. In 2004 he accepted the role of E.G. Daily's son for the horror film Mustang Sally.[8] Parrish had to shoot the entire film with a broken leg he received from a motorcycle wreck in Laurel Canyon. In 2005, he raised the funds for and co-produced the feature Lost Signal a.k.a. Dead of Winter. Parrish flew to Morocco to act in the film Home of the Brave[7] with Jessica Biel. He played a soldier in a heavy battle scene opposite Samuel L. Jackson. In 2007, he performed at The Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica, California in the play The Blue Room by David Hare.[9] Parrish assisted the producer Avi Lerner, for the feature Righteous Kill[7] starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

Personal life

On November 2, 2004, he was hospitalized for a night with bruised ribs and a broken left tibia.

Politics and advocacy

Parrish supported President Barack Obama during Obama's campaign run in the 2008 US presidential election as a Field Manager for Grassroots Campaigns, Inc.[10] Los Angeles office.

Currently, he contributes and helps raise funds for numerous charities and organizations: Save the Children, Heartfelt, Amnesty International, Environment California, Democratic National Committee, ONE, RED, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Nuts for Mutts.
