Mario Giordano (born 30 May 1963) is a German writer.

Life

Giordano studied psychology and philosophy at the German University of Düsseldorf. Today Giordano lives in Cologne. He writes novels, short stories, child and youth books, film scripts and radio plays. His novel "Black Box" (1999), which is based on a true occurrence (Stanford prison experiment) was adapted to a film under the name "Das Experiment" directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel. [1] The film was acclaimed and Giordano received for it among other prizes the Bavarian Film Award for Best Screenplay.[2] For his youth novel "From the Docks" he received the Hans in Luck prize (Hans-im-Glück-Preis) 1998. He gives screenwriting seminars at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg and the Festival of Animated Film (ITFS). Since 2007 Mario Giordano is active in addition as Mentor for TV-series at the Academy for Child Media.
