Maria Rose (born 14 November 1980 in Kerala, India) is the pseudonym of a South Indian writer, writing in Malayalam, who mainly concentrates on children's fiction, horror, suspense, and thriller genre. His wrote his first work, a retold version of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) when he was 14 years old. The book was published two years later by Kairali Mudralayam, a sister concern of D C Books, one of the most prestigious publishers in Kerala. His second work, which was a Malayalam translation of John Buchan's The Thirty-Nine Steps (1915). After an intervel of 11 years he published his study of Alfred Hitchcock's celebrated Television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents. The book adapted the plot of each episodes into a short story, and the critical commentary was given at the end of the book. A fictional Alfred Hitchcock introduced and concluded each of the stories with a dark humour he is famous for. In this way, the book was in fact fictionalizing the series in the manner of the book series edited by Alfred Hitchcock. In Malayalam, it is the first instance of adapting a motion picture into literature.. He has also retold a series of children's books for D C Book's series Mango under his real name Sajid A. Latheef
