It published Serenity role playing game in late 2005 to coincide with the release of Joss Whedon's feature film Serenity based on the television series Firefly. The company received a "Gamer's Choice Best Roleplaying Game of the Year" Origins Award and the "Gold Medal" in the "Best Production Values" of the 2006 ENnie Awards for this game.[1][2]
In 2006, it was announced that Margaret Weis Productions had entered into an agreement to create a role playing game based on the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica TV series.[3]
In 2006 it took over production of Dragonlance d20 supplements from Sovereign Press. Both companies are run by many of the same people.
On August 10th, 2011 Margaret Weis Productions announced that it was developing a tabletop role-playing game based on the Marvel universe, which will be released on February of 2012.[4][5]
It is one of two publishing houses owned by Margaret Weis.
