"The Supernatural Role Playing Game" is a role-playing game to be released in 2008. It is based on the television series "Supernatural".

History

The rights to the license was acquired in the spring of 2007 by Margaret Weis Productions, Ltd (MWP). It was also around this time that New York Times best-selling author Margaret Weis announced that the license to Dragonlance was not renewed so that the company could focus on the Supernatural RPG as well as their work on the Battlestar Galactica RPG. Once licensing approvals are worked out, a "quickstart guide" is set for August 2007 and the Supernatural RPG "core book" is set for October 2007. Early indications by Jamie Chambers place the first official game event to be at Gen Con 2007 in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will include "two adventures that will allow players to experience the Supernatural Role Playing Game for the first time outside of our internal playtesting and development."cite web|url=http://www.winchesterbros.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=483&Itemid=2|title=WinchesterBros.com Exclusive - Q&A with RPG Guru & Developer, Jamie Chambers|date=June 10, 2007|accessdate=2007-06-26] In the fall, MWP will also be showing the game at Lucca Comics & Games Festival in Italy.

According to information from Amazon.com the core rulebook will be hardcover, 224 pages and will release in December 31, 2008 [cite web|url=http://www.amazon.com/Supernatural-Role-Playing-Game/dp/1931567492|title='Amazon.com webpage|date=December 17,2007|accessdate=2007-12-17] . As of August 2008, neither the "quickstart guide" nor the core rulebook have been published. The official product pages for all things Supernatural at the MWP website have been replaced by generic placeholders. Currently there are no official release dates for either product.

Gameplay

The game will consist of one person known as the Game Master, who runs the whole game, and two or more player characters, known as Hunters. These Hunters can either be newly created characters or Dean and Sam Winchester.

The material used will "follow the information from the show, the comics, and the [upcoming] novels."
