Marcia A. Cole is CEO of Ivy Communications, Inc. and Editorial Director of its first media property, AMBERmag.com[1][1]. She is a media executive with nearly 20 years of experience developing editorial strategies for new and existing brands; translating print properties into online extensions; and building editorial and design teams that deliver on-mission content for consumers and advertisers. Marcia has held numerous top-level editorial management positions at several publishing companies including Fairchild, Vanguarde Media, Essence, Latina Media Ventures and Time Inc. where she launched or relaunched titles and websites targeting general and multicultural women audiences. Some of those titles include Suede magazine, Heart & Soul magazine and Girl magazine, as well as Ambermag.com, Latina.com and Realsimple.com. She has also worked on the launch of websites and microsites for L'Oreal Paris, Evian and Snuggle. An accomplished editor and writer, her freelance articles about beauty, entertainment, decor and travel have appeared in Elle, Essence, Day Spa, InStyle Weddings, Savoy, The New York Times[2],[2] and Vibe. Marcia has provided media commentaries about entertainment, fashion and women's issues for The Biography Channel; TV One and Urban Radio Networks. Articles about her have also appeared in Sister2Sister, Thatblackgirlsite.com, MahoganyButterfly.com and NV magazine. She sits on the board of directors of New York Women in Communications, Inc. previously as vice president of career development, and presently as vice president of membership [4].[3]
A native of the Caribbean island of Jamaica, Marcia, a self-professed spa junkie, is working on AfroScene, a Celebration of Big, Beautiful Hair, with photographer Hosea Johnson. She resides in Brooklyn, NY.
