Marcello Menegatto

Marcello Menegatto (born 1978) is an Italian businessman who claims to be the elected head of state of the Principality of Seborga, a micronation existing on the town of the same name. He has assumed the title Marcello I, Prince of Seborga styled as His Tremendousness.

Early life and Marriage

Menegatto was born in Italy but stayed in Monaco. He studied Business Management at the International University of Monaco, where he met his future wife Nina Döbler Menegatto. After graduating college, they got married, and stayed at Monte Carlo. They had huge businesses in Monaco, and continued to live there.[1]

They later finally settled in Seborga, where Prince Giorgio I was still the then ruling monarch. They started a farm, quickly bringing many livestock. In addition they also opened a restaurant.[1]

With the shocking news of Prince Giorgio I's death, Alberto Romano was temporarily appointed as the Crown Regent while no election is held. In April 24–25, 2010, elections were held between Menegatto and Gian Luigi Morgia, a citizen of Seborga. With him having 22 votes more than Morgia, he won the elections and was crowned on May 22, 2010.[2]

Prince of Seborga

After accepting the throne, Menegatto visited the United Kingdom and was welcomed by the Queen Elizabeth II. Later the official websites of the government took site constructions. He promised that the government will be reorganized, and more businesses will be opened to give the citizens of Seborga more opportunities. Meanwhile, with the help of his wife who is the External Affairs Minister, Seborga has opened more consulates in Europe and one in Brazil.[1]
