Manuel Bromberg
Manuel Bromberg (born 1917 Centerville, Iowa) is an American artist, and Professor Emeritus of Art, at the State University of New York at New Paltz. He was a 1946 Guggenheim Fellow.[1]
Life
He graduated from the Cleveland School of Art. He studied at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, with Boardman Robinson and Henry Varnum Poor, from 1932 to 1940.
He worked for the Works Progress Administration,[2] and painted murals for post offices in Greybull, Wyoming,[3] Tahlequah, Oklahoma,[4] and Geneva, Illinois.[5][6]
He married Jane Dow in Woodstock, New York, in December 1941.[7] He was a War Department artist, and came ashore at Omaha beach in June 1944.[8] In 1944, he was awarded the Legion of Merit.
He taught at Salem College, North Carolina State University College of Design, from 1949 to 1952,[9] and State University of New York.[10]
He lives in Woodstock, New York.[11]
