Antonio Manuel 'Manu' Sánchez Gómez (born 25 January 1979 in Fuengirola, Málaga) is a retired Spanish footballer who played as a central midfielder.

Football career

After growing through the ranks of Real Madrid (never making it past the reserve side, however), Sánchez joined Málaga CF in January 2002, being relatively used during five 1/2 seasons.

Manu's best output came in 2002–03, with six La Liga goals in 36 appearances (including a brace against Athletic Bilbao on 9 March 2003, for a 3–0 home win), with Málaga finishing 13th. Previously, he had helped the Andalusia outfit reach the UEFA Cup via the Intertoto Cup success.

In the 2007 summer, after only having appeared in three Segunda División games for Málaga during the season, Sánchez signed with fellow league side Hércules CF, being released at the end of the campaign after just 10 out of 42 possible appearances. In mid–2009, he joined lowly local outfit Antequera CF, which was relegated to Tercera División at the season's end.
