English College (also Maktab Sultan Abdul Bakar (MSAB)) is a premier secondary non-boarding secondary school located in the city Johor Bahru of the southernmost state of Malaysia (Johor).
History
English College was established on March 21, 1914. Students first consists of 21 selected students from the School Hill Zahrah. The first location of this school was originally located near the Castle River and chat face to Lido Beach. The former school site could still be observed up to now. A total of 21 students placed in the EC under the guidance of two teachers who are specially brought in from England, Mr. Morrison and Mr. Holman. 21 students can be regarded as the founder or starting for the EC to expand the English educational institutions in Karachi. At the end of 1928, when the EC managed to achieve its target of 143 selected students majoring in Mathematics, Science, and English. In 1928 also, Mr. T. Drury, who had joined the Education Service of Malaya since 1921, was appointed Principal of the first EC.
In late 1930, the location of this school move to the current location. In this year also MSAB has won the champion title Kejohanan Sports MSSD by displaying a learner MSAB as Best Male Athlete Under 15 Years. Onwards on May 5, 2009 Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar in rasminya has been selected by the Ministry Lessons Malaysia as a 'School Cluster brilliance'. MSAB have been selected based on the brilliance maktab in various aspects such as the achievement of excellence in Paralympic Sports, brilliance in the achievement of Mathematical subjects in peperiksaan PMR and SPM as well as for recognizing given to programs that have been recommended by MSAB eg realize Muzium Tun Hussein Onn and Galleries Visual Arts MSAB.
