Makashule Gana is the Democratic Alliance Youth Leader, and a DA councillor in the City of Johannesburg. He holds a BSc degree and is currently registered for a Post Graduate Diploma in Management with Wits Business School.[1]

Early Childhood and Family
Makashule Gana was born in Lefara Village, Tzaneen on the 11th August 1983. he has two siblings and was raised by his late mother Gavazza. Growing up in rural Tzaneen Makashule Gana was a herd boy.
Education
He went to primary school at Mushoti Primary, beginning in 1988. In 1995 he went to N'wahungani Junior Secondary, thereafter moved schools a few times, in July 1995 he moved to Lefara School, in 1996 to DZJ Secondary School and in 1997 to Giyani High School where he completed Matric In 2000 Gana enrolled for his undergraduate degree at the then University of the North, now known as the University of Limpopo where he completed a Bachelor Of Science Degree in 2003, majoring in mathematics and computer science. In 2010 he registered for a Postgraduate Diploma in Management at the Wits Business School.
Political Life
In 2000 he joined the South African Students’ Congress at the University of Limpopo (then University of the North) Then in 2002 he joined the Democratic Alliance (DA) and DA Youth. In 2003 he was elected DA Students’ Organization provincial Chairperson for Limpopo province. In 2005 he moved to Johannesburg where he continued to be very active in the DA and DA Youth. Gana was elected DA Youth representative for the Innercity branch in 2006 and 2007 was elected DA Youth constituency Chairperson for Johannesburg Central. He was part of the DA’s Young Leaders programme in 2008, and elected DA Youth regional chairperson for the Gauteng South region in 2008. He served in this position until May 2010. In June 2009 he was elected to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Council as a councilor for the DA. In the same year he was elected to represent the Johannesburg DA caucus at the DA Federal Council. In July 2010 he was elected the DA Youth Federal leader.
