Sydney B. Pope

Major General Sydney Buxton Pope DSO CB was a British officer who served in the Indian Army.[1] He commanded the 4/19 Hyderabad Regiment from August 28, 1931 to May 31, 1949. The unit moved from Jhelum (now in Pakistan) to Iraq in 1941 under the command of the then Colonel Sydney Pope. Major General Pope holds the distinction of being the first colonel of the Kumaon Regiment.[2]
