Mahlatini

Mahlatini is an independent tour operator that specialises in luxury African travel to a range of Southern African and Indian Ocean destinations. Established in 2003 the company is owned and managed by Greg Fox and Christopher Goldring as part of Luxury Travel Ltd[1]. The company also operates two sister sites; 4th summit dedicated to climbing tours of Mt Kilimanjaro, Tanzania and Gorilla Tracking Uganda. Mahlatini is based in Belfast, Ulster, Northern Ireland and is the only tour operator in Northern Ireland devoted exclusively to African travel. The company is licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority[2] meaning that all holidays booked through Mahlatini are ATOL protected; they are also members of the Travel Trust Association[3] and the African Travel and Tourism Association[4].

In 2011, allied with the Amakhala Game Reserve in South Africa, Mahlatini began a ‘Stop Rhino Poaching’ campaign in an effort to educate people and further their understanding of the plight facing rhinos across Southern Africa[5]. Mahlatini also adopted a white or square lipped rhinoceros from the Amakhala Reserve, a baby female called Themba born on January 30, 2011[6].

The ethos of responsible travel pervades across all aspects of Mahlatini’s operation. 4th Summit is committed to a tree planting scheme in the Rift Valley of Southern Kenya, only a few hundred miles from Mt Kilimanjaro. The trees are planted to offset the carbon footprint of each and every person who climbs the mountain with 4th Summit ensuring a carbon neutral experience.[7]

Mahlatini also specialise in honeymoons and were one of the first dedicated Africa tour operators to offer a honeymoon gift list service.
