Plot
The story revolves around a overweight girl, Mahi Talwar (Pushtiie Shakti) who faces the challenges and aspects of work and life through a unique set of procedures, rules and phases which she refers to as "Mahi Way" by interacting with her friends, Siddharth, a wannabe gay fashion designer and Roshni, her dumb but stylish sidekick who makes heads turn wherever she goes.
She faces a lot of pressure and embarrassment from her family, which consists of her parents who keep bickering regularly over house bills, family members and their new renters, a gay couple who Mahi talks to when she is down. Much of the drama arises from the grandmother's problems with her daughter's newfound affair and Mahi's brother, Ankur who keeps facing problems arising due to peer pressure.
She also struggles from inferiority complex because of her elder sister, Anjali who is married to her amazingly sweet Jeeju and have a cute little daughter, and is physically fit and focused.
Mahi initially writes a Agony Aunt Column in a fashion magazine "Trend" but can never manage to become a feature writer. She faces criticism from her fashionista editor, Ramona Kohli and anorexic office bullies Sona and Mona. She also harbors a crush on the owner of a designer Underwear brand - I'Si, Ishaan Singh, whose office is located right above hers. Ishaan is intrigued by Mahi's humour but dumps her after sleeping with her. He starts dating socialite Jasmine. Mahi is fired from her job and decides to pursue her career as a journalist but instead is forced to become the host of a Children's TV show where she plays a Hippo named Bobo.
During all these disaster sequences, she happens to always cross paths with her charming yet strange childhood friend, Shiv. Before she can even realise her true feelings for Shiv, Ishaan comes back into her life, admitting his mistake. He asks her to marry him and she accepts. Season 1 follows her quest to find true love but instead leads her to the realisation that she needs to find herself before she can find true love. She leaves Ishaan at the altar and decides to change her life, pursue her ambitions and realise her career dreams.[3]
