Mahant Lachhman Dass High School

Mahant Lachhman Dass High School is a public high school in Talwandi Kalan, Ludhiana, Punjab, India. MLD High School provides an education for a wide age group of students, ranging from nursery to secondary school children.

Founding of the School

MLD High school was founded in 1993 by Mahant Lachhman Dass Educational Society. MLD Educational Society seeks to provide a well-rounded education to students in a rural atmosphere.

Aims

The goals of the school are:^[1]

• To create well-rounded development and to produce good citizen.
• To produce co-operation, patience, discipline, and self confidence among students.
• To provide education without cheating & teach the student how to face life's challenges.
• To foster equality amongst rural and urban students and make them punctual in the age of competition.

Attending the School

MLD students must wear uniforms to school. Only students accepted to MLD may attend; accepted students are required to pay fees to continue attendance. Fees are due monthly. A bus route is provided for students. In addition, students at V standard and above may rent bicycles for Rs. 5 month.^[2]

Trimester Schedule

MLD High School is on a trimester schedule. Examinations are sat during September, December, and March. Progress reports are sent home every three months.

Notable Achievements

In 2005, MLD High School arranged for Tavistock College to attend MLD for a few days and experience the teaching methods employed there. MLD also provided hospitality to the young visiting students and their teachers.^[4] The goal of the visit was to foster a connection to share teaching methods and experiences in the future.^[5]
