De Dubbeltjespanden was the name of one big house block at the start of the Czaar Peterstraat and Blankenstraat in Amsterdam.

The houses have been built in the 1880s. It was one of the first social housing projects in the Netherlands. It has been named de Dubbeltjespanden because the residents paid for rental one "dubbeltje" per week to be able to become owners. But this project never materialised.

A few years ago this block appeared in the news because a gas leak destroyed several houses. Since then the demolition of the entire block remained a gaping hole in the wall.

The municipal council of Amsterdam has decided that these properties should be demolished to make room for new buildings. In May 2006 the demolition began. It was expected that the new building would be achieved by mid 2008. In August 2010 the construction of the new building was still in progress.
