Michael Beitler (born March 11, 1954, Baltimore, Maryland) is an author, business professor,[1] and Republican candidate for North Carolina Secretary of State in the 2012 election. He is married to spouse, Danielle, and has three children.[2] He received his BS in Finance/Economics from the University of Central Florida in 1976, his MA in Psychology from Norwich University in 1994 and his PhD in Leadership Development from the The Union Institute in 1997.[3] Dr. Beitler is a former business professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, business consultant, host of “Free Markets” radio show, author of three books, and a former Chief Financial Officer.[4]

Beitler, who ran in 2010 as a Libertarian for U.S. Senate, has rejoined the Republican Party and has spent much of the last several months touring the state and gauging support for his candidacy. On Monday August 1, 2011, he told Curtis Wright on his morning radio show that is broadcast in southeastern North Carolina each weekday morning that he was running. “I, Mike Beitler, am an official candidate for Secretary of State,” Beitler said. “The reason I am seeking the position is because Elaine Marshall has been there fifteen years and she missed part of her job description which is to facilitate business in North Carolina."
