Kerry Spackman (born in Auckland, New Zealand on 26 June 1956) is a neuroscientist who has developed a career coaching athletes, business people, and many well-known personalities, working with them to pioneer the mental tools needed to succeed within their chosen fields.[1] He has been a long-term consultant to four Formula One teams as well as the New Zealand All Blacks specialising in performance optimisation[2] and he is retained by the New Zealand Government to provide elite training to Olympic and team sports. He is also the author of The Winner’s Bible.[3]

Early life

Spackman was born to father Dr Dennis Spackman, a medical practitioner and his grandfather, Sir Trevor Henry was a High Court Judge in New Zealand. Spackman spent much of his childhood in Auckland. He was educated at Auckland Grammar School before training as a mathematician at the University of Waikato and Auckland. He later went on to attain a PhD in neuroscience.[4]

Career

Early in his career, Spackman worked with a New Zealand based Physicist[5] to develop electronic equipment to measure the performance of cars. The pair then sold these programmes on to many companies including Rolls-Royce, Nissan, General Motors and Ford. During this period Spackman met the three times World Formula One Champion Sir Jackie Stewart with whom he ended up working with to develop a program to train professional test drivers.[6] Spackman continued to work with Jackie Stewart at Stewart Grand Prix and Jaguar for a number of years.

In Formula One, Spackman is recognised as making contributions in areas ranging from simulator design to driver optimisation.

Television

In television Spackman has written and presented a showcase 1 hour documentary for the Discovery Channel about his work in Formula One called "Speed Science".

The Winner’s Institute

The Winner’s Bible is published by The Winner’s Institute, a body set up by Spackman to provide products and services that help people, corporations, and athletic groups to integrate and incorporate the material in The Winner's Bible series of books.

Personal life

Spackman currently divides his time between New Zealand and the United States and is a father and grandfather.
