As of 2010 he is the Managing Director of the Naseer S. Al Hajri Corporation (NSH) and Petrochem, Saudi Arabia.[1] He received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman[2] award from the Government of India, and was the first Bahrain-based businessman to win the Padma Shri award from the Government of India.[3][4]
Ravi Pillai as MD of NSH Corporation is reportedly the largest employer of Indians in the gulf region. [5]
In August 2011, Ravi Pillai bought the Kovalam beach resort from the Leela Group for INR 500 crore.[6] However, the Leela Group will not exit the property completely. It will enter into a management contract with Ravi Pillai to manage the property for 30 years.
