Doreen Spooner

Doreen Spooner was the first female photographer to work in Fleet Street and the former fashion photographer for the Daily Mirror.^[1][2]

She was employed by Simon Clyne, a Fleet Street picture editor in the 1950s and 1960s - at a time when very few women were employed on Fleet Street national newspapers. ^[3][4]

It is said that an early glamour model once remarked: ‘You never mind getting your kit off for Doreen. It’s like undressing in front of your granny!’^[2]

She was a member of the National Council for the Training of Journalists photojournalism board.^[1]
