Donald Tang is an American investment banker who is the founder and CEO of the CSIP Group and a former Vice-Chairman of Bear Stearns.

Early life
He was born in Shanghai to college professors. In 1982 he arrived in California after following his girlfriend Jean, now his wife. He worked in restaurants to attend California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, graduating in 1986 with a chemical engineering degree.[1]
Finance career
His career in finance began at Merrill Lynch & Co. in 1987 on the institutional equity sales team. Later he was at Lehman Brothers working in fixed-income institutional sales. In 1993 he moved to Hong Kong where he built up the Asians operations of Bear Stearns. He was promoted in March 1999 to take control of the Chicago office of Bear Stearns.[2] Once there he focused on building the high net worth operations of the office.[3] In 2001 he was promoted to Vice-Chairman.[4]
Civic organizations
He is Chairman of the Asia Society Southern California. During the tenure the organization become much more China-focused.[5]
He serves on the Board of Trustees of the RAND Corporation.
