Donald Alexander Tytler (1925–1992) was the 8th Bishop of Middleton. A noted liberal,[1] he was born on 2 May 1911 and educated at Eastbourne College and Christ's College, Cambridge. Ordained in 1939, after a curacy in Yardley he became successively Chaplain of the University of Birmingham, Precentor at Birmingham Cathedral, Diocescan Director of Education within the Diocese of Birmingham, Rural dean of Warley and then Archdeacon of Aston.[2] His last post, held until his death in 1992, was as a Suffragan Bishop.
