Background
The film's original score and soundtrack has been composed by the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who also composed the music for the first installment of the series, while lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. Before the release of the album, there were reports that a song named "Rehmat" from the film had been moving around the Internet. However, this was dismissed as being a rumor by the makers.[1]

Joginder Tuteja of Bollywood Hungama in his three star review, opined, "As mentioned at the very beginning, nothing less than a rocking album was expected from Don 2. Eventually what you get is a soundtrack that would go along with the narrative and acts as a good situational ingredient but that's about it." [2] Sukanya Verma of Rediff.com gave the album two out of five stars and said Don 2's music could fare much better if the composers Shankar-Ehsaan-and Loy had tried to step out of the prequel's shadow. Verma also highlighted that the music is safe, self-conscious.[3]
Moviehattan reviewer Gurpreet Bhuller awarded the album four out of five stars, and noted that the soundtrack "may not breathe fire instantly, it will take time to grow" and "may spur up extremely diverse reactions, if one section of listeners may applaud the efforts of the composers others may pan it badly". Bhuller also praised the composers by calling it "one of the best albums by Shankar Ehsaan Loy in terms of creativity and novelty". [4]
