There are three railway lines linking Glasgow with Edinburgh. These are:
*Glasgow to Edinburgh via Carstairs Line (the only electrified link)
*Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk Line
*Glasgow to Edinburgh via Shotts LineA fourth route is currently under construction.
*Glasgow to Edinburgh via Airdrie and Bathgate (this line will also be electrified)
Historically the first line between Glasgow and Edinburgh was the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway.
