Dixson Island

Dixson Island (68°8′S 146°43′E / 68.133°S 146.717°E / -68.133; 146.717) is a high ice-covered island, 10 nautical miles (18 km) long and 5 nautical miles (9 km) wide, at the west side of the mouth of Ninnis Glacier. Discovered by the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911–14) under Douglas Mawson, who named it for Sir Hugh Dixson of Sydney, a patron of the expedition.
