- Bridge to Brisbane
Bridge to Brisbane is a
fun run held inBrisbane ,Australia each year in August. The race distance is currently 10 km, although this has not been consistent over the life of the race. The first race occurred in 1997 with less than 5000 entrants and each year the event raises funds for charity. In 2007 the Bridge to Brisbane attracted a field of up to 30 000 runners.
Route
The race takes place between the
Gateway Bridge southern tollway in Lytton and New Farm Park in New Farm. The route travels along Kingsford Smith Drive, towards the city via the suburbs of Hamilton, Bowen Hills and Teneriffe.A recent addition has been the incorporation of a 5 km race (from Breakfast Creek) starting later than the full 10 km race, with some runners competing in both.
Originally the race was called the 'Bridge to Bay' and instead of heading from the Gateway Bridge towards Brisbane, it headed towards the coast line finishing at Manly.
