‡ National team caps and goals correct as of 12 October 2011Dimitri Foulquier (born 23 March 1993 in Sarcelles) is a French football player who plays for French club Rennes in Ligue 1. He primarily plays as a right back, but can also be utilized as a wing-back on the same side.[1] Foulquier is a France youth international having represented the nation at under-18 and under-19 level.
Born on the mainland in Sarcelles, Foulquier was raised in Capesterre, a commune in the overseas region and department of Guadeloupe.[2] After excelling with local clubs in the commune, he was spotted by Rennes scout Patrick Rampillon and, subsequently, joined the professional club in July 2007.[2][3] After excelling in the club's academy, Foulquier was awarded the Best Academy Player award for the 2009–10 season.[1] After appearing on the bench in matches during the 2010–11 season,[2] he was promoted to the senior team by manager Frédéric Antonetti for the 2011–12 season. Foulquier was assigned the number 24 shirt and made his professional debut on 2 October 2011 in a league match against Lille. He started the match, but was substituted out after halftime as Rennes were defeated 2–0.
