Dickeya solani Scientific classification Kingdom: Bacteria Phylum: Proteobacteria Class: Gamma Proteobacteria Order: Enterobacteriales Family: Enterobacteriaceae Genus: Dickeya Species: D. solani Binomial name Dickeya solani Dickeya solani is a bacterium that causes a disease that affects potato crops. It was first discovered in the Netherlands, where it causes €25–30 million of damage annually. The disease was discovered by Dutch farmers in 2005, and by 2007 had increased five-fold. Three cases appeared in Scotland in 2009 and one in 2010 [1]
