(Dichroic LED Glasses laminated by Righetti[1]
Dichroic LEDGlass is a new composite material which is based on the technology[2] of transparent LED embedded glass. Dichroic LED glasses differ from transparent Ledglass: The reflected colour of the LED Glass[3] is a function of the angle of light reflection. This is caused by a dichroic interlayer material which causes visible light to be split up into distinct beams of different wavelengths.
Dichroic LED glass is produced by laminating dichroic and LED interlayers between glass by means of vacuum bagging. The history of vacuum lamination of sputtered metallic inlayers has been described in Vacuum International[4]. The specification of a dichroic LEDGlass Sandwitch may be described like this:
- Top Layer:..Glass
- Interlayer:..Transparent thermoplastic material like TPU, PVB or EVA
- Interlayer:..LED (light emitting diodes)on transparent conductive Polymer
- Interlayer:..Transparent thermoplastic material like TPU, PVB or EVA
- Interlayer:..Pressure sensitive dicroic polymeric film glued on bottom layer
- Bottom layer:..Glass
