Plot
'Dharti' is family drama set in Punjab on the backdrop of Punjab Politics. Baljit Singh Wadala (Prem Chopra) is the head of ruling party in Punjab and has two sons. The elder son Vikramjit Singh Wadala (Ramandeep Arya) is following his father's footsteps and is a prominent political leader, while the younger son Jasdeep Singh Wadala (Jimmy Shergill) is a Squadron Leader in the Indian Air Force. The younger son has a conflict with his father as he had left his father's legacy to join the Indian Air Force. Due to certain circumstance Jasdeep Singh is forced to come to Punjab. After lots of emotional turmoils the son unites with his father. The other actors are Rannvijay Singh, Surveen Chawla, Japji Khaira, Jaspal Bhatti, Shivender Mahal & Binnu Dhillon.

Dharti released on April 21, 2011 in Australia. It released worldwide on April 22, 2011. The premiere of Dharti took place in Australia. Navaniat Singh's Mel Karade Rabba was a big hit of Blockbuster by Gross revenue of Rs 32.50 crore where the Budgets was Rs 7.85 crore. He was also a director of Tera Mera Ki Rishta that also did amazing work on the sets of Blockbuster by earning $108,741 just in first two weeks. Dharti was released worldwide on April 22nd and already beating the record of other two Movies that were released on same day as Dharti "Dum Maro Dum" (Hindi Movie) and "Mr Perfect" (Telugu)in punjab and overseas.At Wave multiplex in Ludhiana, the first two shows of Dharti were Rs. 21,963 and Rs. 35,824. At Orient in Ludhiana, Dharti drew the first two shows full (Rs. 25,100 per show) and at PVR in Ludhiana, it collected Rs. 31,203 in the first show. At Harsha multiplex in Karnal Dharti collected Rs. 10,086 in first show.
On its first weekend playing in the United States, Dharti grossed an estimated $148,000 from 11 screens which was an average of $8230 grossed at each screen. The only movies to better this effort were the Telegu film Mr. Perfect which grossed an average of $8860 per screen and Madea's Big Happy Family which grossed a huge $11,220 per screen.[2] This converts to approximately 66 Lakh INR which is a huge achievement for a Dharti which has grossed more in a weekend than what previous Punjabi films have in their entire time on the screen in US cinemas.
