Dhakar

Dhakar

The Dhakar (also known as Dhakad) are a Hindu princely caste belonging to the royal Kshatriya ("warrior") varna (social order). The Dhakar are Chandravanshi Rajputs and are mainly found in north-west Madhya Pradesh and south-east Rajasthan, and also some parts of western Uttar Pradesh (mainly in Agra and Mathura). Dhakar in Rajasthan are said to be descendents of Prathvi Raj Chauhan and were orginated from Sisoda village in Rajasthan. Many of the Dhakar in Rajasthan were converted to Jainism after Mohd Gauri's victory over Prathvi Raj Chauhan.
