Descartes Island

Descartes Island (66°47′S 141°29′E / 66.783°S 141.483°E / -66.783; 141.483) is a rocky island 0.1 nautical miles (0.2 km) long, midway between Lagrange Island and La Conchee and 0.9 nautical miles (1.7 km) north-northeast of Cape Mousse. Charted in 1951 by the French Antarctic Expedition and named after René Descartes (1596–1650), French mathematician and philosopher.
