The Denver Pioneers men's lacrosse team represents the University of Denver in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college lacrosse. The University of Denver (DU) Men’s Lacrosse Program was first introduced in 1966 as a club sport. The program alternated between varsity and club status when it was first initiated. Denver plays its home games at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, which has a capacity of 2,000 people.[1] The Pioneers currently compete in the ECAC Lacrosse League (ECAC) after previously playing in the Great Western Lacrosse League from 1998 to 2009.[2]

Through 2010, Denver had a 181–177 record in both Division II and Division I. In Division I alone, they are 71–68. The Pioneers made their first NCAA Tournament in 2006, where they lost 16–8 to Maryland.[2] They won their first NCAA Tournament game 13–10 against Villanova in 2011, and advanced to the Final Four after beating Johns Hopkins University, 14-9 in the NCAA regional. The Pioneers have made it to the NCAA Division I Tournament a total of 4 times. Denver plays in a city that is considered a major lacrosse hotbed, and will continue to grow for years to come.
