Buford, GADemetris Murray (born on Jan. 3, 1990) is a junior halfback for the University of South Florida. After serving as a backup for his first two seasons, Murray is set to play a more prominent role in the 2011-2012 season.[1] In the first season of his college career, he rushed for 77yds in only 11 attempts. In the 2010 season he picked up more carries, while rushing for 533yds in 121 attempts, with 4 touchdowns.[2]

Early life
One of six children, Murray was raised by Tracey Hunter and Dennis Murray. His cousin, Garrison Hearst currently plays in the NFL.
High school
Murray attended Buford High School in Georgia, where he was ranked the 49th-best running back in the country according to Rivals.com, and 67th according to Scout.com. He went on to become the Georgia 2A State Player of the Year, and as a junior had 143 rushing attempts, making a total of 1,090 yards (averaging 7.6 yards per carry), with 20 touchdowns. As a senior, he helped Buford to an undefeated season and a Georgia 2A state championship. For the next season, he chose to play for USF over Wake Forest and Maryland.
College career
After redshirting in 2008, Murray played in 11 games in 2009 and was a key factor in the special teams where he collected four tackles, including two against Northern Illinois in the International Bowl. He carried the ball 14 times making 77 yards, including 59 yards against Charleston Southern.
In 2010 he played in 11 games at running back recording 542 yards and four touchdowns in 120 carries (4.5 yard average), while catching 11 passes for 153 yards and two TDs.
