Facility

The school was built for $2,369,000 from plans prepared by Architect C. Wellington Walker. Construction began on July 5, 1951. The school saw significant renovation between 1993-1995. Until 1983, the middle school included 9th grade. The school sits on approximately 55 acres (220,000 m2), including athletic fields and Wooster Pond.[2]

Superfund cleanup

In 1993 the Environmental Protection Agency named the Wooster Junior High School athletic field as a one of 41 Superfund locations in Stratford due to ground contamination by Raybestos.[3] By June 1995 all of the hazardous material was removed and capped at the Raybestos site.[4]
