David Burnett (born 1942 or 1943[1]) is a State senator in the U.S. state of Arkansas representing Senate District 15, which comprises Mississippi and Poinsett counties. He was elected to the Senate in 2010. Before entering the Senate, Burnett was a judge.[2] Burnett is notable for being the original trial judge of the West Memphis Three case, and who also refused to reopen the case upon later discovery of evidence supporting the innocence of the 3 teenagers convicted in that trial.[3]
