David Dephy (David Dephy Gogibedashvili) (Georgian: დავით-დეფი გოგიბედაშვილი) (born June 21, 1968) is a Georgian Poet, novelist,[1] performer, multimedia artist, the founder of the first Georgian poetic order “Samkauli” (adornment,) of 21st century and an original representative of modern Georgian culture.His works showed infinite phonetic and syntactical possibilities of the Georgian language which he issued to the public was praised by Georgian critics as poetry and prose of absolutely new sounds and full of innovatory ideas. He is the author of a famous slogan “Stop Russia”. His novels and poetry became a cult event for new Georgian generation.

Life
David Dephy was born 21, June, 1968 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1992 he graduated from Tbilisi Academy of fine arts (Faculty of Architecture). Since then he has been engaged in various fields of Mass media: newspapers, radio and TV. In Georgian TV Channel “Meore Archi” Dephy created the original Media project “მზეRA” (Mze-Ra). From 1995 to 2000 he collaborated with internationally famous film directors Otar Ioseliani and Nana Djordjadze. He is the inspirer and participant of many poetic performances. During the “Rose Revolution” he was one of the leaders of the disobedience movement. He carried out a poetic action “Otchi Stiqia” (Four elements). A book “Samkauli” has been published. A double audio album “Amishvi tcamde” ("let me go up to the heaven") which he issued to the public was praised by Georgian critics as poetry of absolutely new sounds and full of innovatory ideas. During the Russian invasion in 2008, he joined the army of volunteers and set up a headquarters of civil solidarity. He is the author of a famous slogan “STOP RUSSIA”. In 2008, Dephy accomplished a poetic project “Observatory”, in which, for the first time, he used quadrophonic sound alongside the visual performance. This project was represented at Lvov International Literary Festival and was regarded by Ukrainian media and the participants of the festival as an exclusive happening. In 2010 - 2011 he became a participant and member of New York writers and poets society Ledig House. In 2011 his short story “Before the End” became The Best European Fiction 2012 by Aleksandar Hemon. He also is participant in PEN World Voices Festival 2011 in New York, like a poet and novelist. He had a big poetry Live show ‘The Second Skin’ with Laurie Anderson in New York, April, 29 2011, also with Yusef Komunyakaa and Salman Rushdie.
Prose
David Dephy was 25 years old when he wrote his first novel and verse. In 1994 he publishes collected essays “Mkvdari Dro” (Dead Time), which was about the fate of the men of that time. The book consists of the citations from the Bible and includes psychological aspects of men’s behavior. In 2000, an original collection of dialogues – “P.S.” was issued. Since 2003, his three novels: “let my twin find me”, „the December talisman“, and „morning before the miracles” have been published and received very positive reviews. All three novels showed infinite phonetic and syntactical possibilities of the Georgian language. A novel “let my twin find me” has been translated into German. In 2007 he published his translation of Khalil Gibran’s “The Prophet” and in 2008 his fundamental creation, a novel “Demna Gedevanishvili”, with continuation in Internet, was born to life. This novel is about the man “Who loved, believed and hoped”. In 2011 he also published a new novel “The Gardens And The Pandemonium”, about Georgia-Russia war.
Poetry
In 2003, David Dephy publishes a book of verses “Emerald and sapphire”, which introduces a neo romantic poetry dressed with mystical and surrealistic sonority. In 2004 he publishes his poetic trilogy “Ravage”, which includes three independent books: “And”, “There” and “Heaven”. Verses “Heart is beating” is erected on the rhyme of word, just like one and whole pulsate of beating. In 2006, a collection of verses “Samkauli” and audio album “let me go up to heaven” are published and both became a cult event for new generation. Later, Dephy created new projects, which included his audio and video poetry named “Daphiony – Supernova Domine. In 2008, its part, called “Observatory” has been introduced at the Lvov (Ukraine) international festival of Poetry and was valued as the impressive and hypnotic live impression. In 2010 poetry album “Daphiony-Supernova Domine” and in 2011 books of verses “Sevdya” and “Absolutely New York” are published.
