Background and history

McDonald was raised in Spring Lake, New Jersey. He attended and graduated from Monmouth University where he received a degree in communications. After working overnights on-air for radio stations such as WBJB-FM and WRAT and odd jobs such as a barback, waiter, and flower delivery man, Dave was hired as a producer for Ron and Fez. Dave is married with two children.

Ron and Fez

Dave started working for the Ron and Fez Show in December 2005 as a producer. He quickly gained fame and adoration among listeners for his eccentric personality and popular characters and segments including Guy Guyerson, Board Gossip, the Midnight Rider, Mike Francesa, Dave Leno, Carlito from Carlito's Way, Davey Red, Bearded Paul McCartney, ESPN ‘s “Brought To You By” Guy, Happy Henny Youngman, Earl's Dead Grandma, Richard Dreyfuss' Hollywood News, Leon Redbone, Roberto (a ventriloquist act), and The Bearded Joker. His characters and segments became one of the highlights of the show. Dave also strongly contributed to everyday discussion with jokes and revealing confessions. In June 2010, Dave departed from the show due to financial problems. According to Dave, Sirius XM was not able to pay him enough to support both his family and his daily commute.[2]

Special Delivery

In the fall of 2008, Dave McDonald and Sam Roberts started Special Delivery for Sirius XM. The show started as a pre-taped hour airing on Saturday nights, but has quickly grew into a bigger, weekly live show on Sirius 206, XM 105 starting at 8 PM EST (PM Pacific). The show continues to flourish today. Special Delivery is best known for its funny take on pop culture; comedic characters and sketches; and for its sarcastic association with classic arcade gaming, especially personalities from the documentary King of Kong. Billy Mitchell is a frequent guest, and has even played live on the show. Special Delivery did a live broadcast during the 2011 Kong Off where Hank Chien, Billy Mitchell, Steve Wiebe, and several other world renowned players competed in Donkey Kong. The legendary radio personality Cousin Brucie has made several appearances on the show. Other show friends include The ECW Zombie, Jason Ellis, Joey Abs, and Johnny Fairplay.

Mornings On The Night and JSAJ

After leaving the Ron and Fez Show, Dave continues to work for Sirius XM, co-hosting Special Delivery. In addition to that, he began working at WBJB-FM, 90.5 The Night, as co-host of Mornings on The Night from 6 - 10 am. During the show, Dave has conversation with Michele McBride, does the sports, and reads the state and local Monmouth County and Ocean County, New Jersey news. Dave also hosts a segment called the Jersey Shore Arts Journal for 90.5 The Night. JSAJ is a look into artists and art venues that the Jersey Shore has to offer. It can be heard Saturday mornings during eTown (10 AM EST).

Davey Mac Sports Program

McDonald hosts the weekly Davey Mac Sports Program podcast with producer Chris Stanley from the Ron and Fez Show. The Davey Mac Sports Program is the largest independent sports podcast listed on iTunes; and has been featured on the "recommended" and "new and noteworthy" sections on iTunes and Stitcher.com. The show is pre-taped live with Sean Barry and Roy Harter from SkinnyMan studios in Times Square, New York.
