Darryl Kyte is a lawyer, writer, producer and television personality in Canada. Kyte hosted the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's International Emmy and Gemini award winning show Street Cents and has worked as a journalist and producer for a number of other C.B.C. news television programs.[1]
Early life and education
Born in Toronto Ontario, Kyte attended Leaside High School where he was school Captain. Kyte left Toronto after high school to go to university in Nova Scotia. He holds honours Journalism and Economics degrees from the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University in Halifax. Kyte also holds a law degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University.
Career
While still completing his undergraduate degrees, Kyte began working with Street Cents in 2000 appearing as 'Darryl the intern' on multiple episodes. In 2001 Kyte became a Street Cents host a position he held for four seasons. Kyte’s co-host Kim D'Eon (2000–2003) now appears on Entertainment Tonight Canada. Kyte’s other co-hosts Alison Dixon (2003–2005) is currently a medical student and Connie Walker (2001–2004) continues to work with the CBC.
During Kyte's first two years of law school he was working full time on Street Cents. He stopped hosting the show to concentrate on law in spring 2005 but maintained ties with the CBC by producing content for Street Cents and C.B.C. news. Kyte completed law in spring 2006.
Kyte has worked around the world as a writer, reporter and producer for C.B.C.’s the National, various regional newscasts and C.B.C. Sports.[2] Kyte has also taken part in a number of independent television programs including That News Show [3] on TVtropolis and international health and medical media Freddie Award winning video P.A.R.T.Y.
Kyte remains active in the arts community. Kyte's continued his legal education by enrolling in courses like the Mediation and Negotiation Institute at Harvard University Law School. Kyte is currently with the law firm of Taylor Mitsopulos Klein Oballa one of North America’s premier entertainment law firms that represents people like Drake, Nelly Furtado and George Stromboulopoulos. Kyte's primary legal focuses are film, television and new media; his clients include but are not limited to fashion labels, television personalities and production companies.
