Darren McCauley (born 29 November 1991) is an Irish footballer currently playing for Coleraine F.C.

McCauley played in the Derry and District league with local side Top of the Hill Celtic, before signing with his hometown club, Derry City. In the summer of 2009, McCauley attracted interest from several cross-channel clubs. He had trials with Motherwell, Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Celtic.

In July Motherwell offered a 1 year contract. Blackburn then tabled a 2 year bid that was accepted. However, an agreement could not be reached with Derry City over compensation for the player. As the 2009 Derry City campaign came to a close, Celtic F.C offered to take the player on loan for the rest of their 2009/2010 campaign, which was accepted.

Having returned home from Celtic, he signed back with Derry City for the remaining of the 2010 season, helping the team gain promotion to the Premier Division of the Legue of Ireland. In November 2010, as the League of Ireland ended, it was reported that the Derryman would take up a soccer scholarship with the University of Michigan, in the USA. Having spent time in Michigan, he returned home to sign for Irish League side Coleraine.

He was previously a member of the Northern Ireland Under-18 Schools' team that won the tri-nation Schools' tournament in Jersey in February 2009.[1]

He also captained the under 18 schoolboys to victory in the Carnegie Centenary Shield match against England in March 2009.[2]

McCauley is currently a member of the Republic of Ireland Under 19 squad.[3]
