Daniel Chavez Moran is a businessman, based in Mexico, who formed Grupo Vidanta in 1974 [1], a business dedicated to the development of luxury hotels and resorts. In 2010, CNN named him one of the top 100 most important businessmen in Mexico.[2]
Moran’s first venture into the philanthropic sphere came with the founding of Fundación Delia Moran A.C. in 2002, which focuses on helping children grow up in healthy environments.
He also founded the non-profit organization, the Grupo Vidanta Foundation in 2005 to propagate awareness of the gap in political, economic, and social development in Latin America, and promotion of culture for the common good. The foundation was started as the Daniel Chavez Moran Foundation, then changed to Grupo Mayan Foundation later in 2005. In May 2008, the name changed to the Grupo Vidanta Foundation and in November 2010, the name was simplified to the Vidanta Foundation.[3]
Biography
Chavez Moran started his entrepreneurial career in 1974 after graduating from the University of Guadalajara . He obtained a degree in civil engineering at the age of twenty-two.
In 2005, Daniel Chavez Moran officially retired from all his executive responsibilities to focus his time on family and philanthropic endeavors.[4]
