Gill, 1861Dactyloscopus pectoralis, known commonly as the Whitesaddle stargazer in Mexico and the United Kingdom,[1] is a species of sand stargazer in the genus Dactyloscopus.[2] It is a tropical blenny found in the eastern Pacific Ocean.[2] It was described by T.N. Gill in 1861,[3] and can reach a maximum length of 5.2 centimetres.[2] Blennies in this species swim at a maximum depth of 45 metres.[2]
Dactyloscopus pectoralis contains three subspecies, Dactyloscopus pectoralis pectoralis, Dactyloscopus pectoralis fallax, and Dactyloscopus pectoralis insulatus.[2]
