List of Colorado Avalanche head coaches

The Colorado Avalanche is a professional ice hockey franchise and member of the National Hockey League, dating from 1995, when the franchise relocated from Quebec City to Denver, Colorado. The team is a member of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference of the NHL.

The Avalance has had four head coaches in its history since moving from Quebec. The current coach of the Avalanche is Tony Granato, who was named to the post on May 22, 2008, after Joel Quenneville was fired by the club earlier in the month. The upcoming 2008–09 season will be Granato's second term with the Avalanche.

Notes

*note label|Note1|a|a A running total of the number of coaches of the Avalanche. Thus any coach who has two or more separate terms as head coach is only counted once.
*note label|Note2|b|b Starting in the 2005–06 season, if a game is still tied at the end of a five-minute overtime, the game enters a shootout. The team with the most goals during the three-round shootout wins the game.
