Death Receptor 6 (DR-6) refers to a neuronal Death Receptor which is physiologically activated in early brain development to achieve neuronal pruning. It is thought to be inappropriately activated in Alzheimer's Disease by N-APP (a protein fragment - cleaved from amyloid precursor protein). DR-6 is currently a target for experimental drug development using blocking monoclonal antibodies, therapeutic vaccines, or siRNA to reduce progression in Alzheimer's disease.)
