The General Investigations and Special Operations Division (Italian: Divisione Investigazioni Generali e Operazioni Speciali), mainly known with its acronym DIGOS, is an Italian law enforcement agency, charged with investigating sensitive cases relating to terrorism, organized crime and serious offences such as kidnapping and extortion. It is a special operative division of State Police, territorially organized in provincial branches in every office responsible for police force (called Questura) and is dependent to the Police Prevention Central Directorate (Italian: Direzione Centrale della Polizia di Prevenzione, DCPP), which is part of the Public Security Department of the Interior Ministry.
