The DDR-Bestenermittlung was the second level of ice hockey in East Germany from 1970-1990. The league was formed by two teams that were kicked out of the DDR-Oberliga in 1970, when it was reduced from five to two teams. BSG Einheit Crimmitschau, and BSG Motor Optima Erfurt were joined by BSG Chernie Leuna and SG Dynamo Schierke.
The Bestenermittlung operated as the second level of ice hockey in East Germany, in until the Reunification of Germany in 1990.
